One of the original members of the firm, Clark Cochran joined Steve Billing when they opened their doors in September 1977. Mr. Cochran splits his trial practice between governmental and general insurance defense litigation.
Mr. Cochran is recognized by his peers as a Top Lawyer in the areas of trial practice and municipal law in the South Florida Legal Guide and has received the highest rating from Martindale-Hubbell for many years.
Since 1977, he has been defending municipalities in South Florida along with insurance companies and their insureds, against everything from automobile accidents to slip and falls to civil rights claims, as well as construction litigation and zoning. Mr. Cochran also defends premises and products liability cases along with life insurance claims. He has often been called upon by insurance companies to provide opinions on coverage issues and to represent them in litigating coverage disputes and bad faith claims.
One of the few attorneys to combine substantial trial experience with a successful appellate practice, Mr. Cochran has been involved in appellate decisions that have created law in cases involving sovereign immunity, insurance coverage issues and trial practice. His experience in both trying cases and arguing complex legal issues has resulted in a significant number of summary judgments, substantially reducing the cost of litigation for his clients.
