Andrew Rief has a broad background in civil litigation, with a primary focus on negligence claims involving personal injury or wrongful death related to allegations of medical malpractice, nursing home abuse, general negligence, premises liability, and products liability. He joined Billing Cochran in 2003. Mr. Rief defends individual physicians, nurses, hospitals and other healthcare providers in medical negligence cases and also represents doctors and nurses before the Florida Department of Health and the applicable boards.
Mr. Rief is often used as a resource by local hospitals regarding issues and concerns that arise before litigation ensues, with a focus on mitigating those risks and minimizing future litigation. Mr. Rief is frequently asked by local hospitals to conduct seminars and in-service presentations on a wide variety of topics. In those matters when there is a dispute between co-defendants, or other third parties, Mr. Rief also offers advice and guidance on indemnity and contribution claims and pursues those claims for his clients where appropriate. Mr. Rief worked for several years at St. Joseph's Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida, before pursuing his law degree at the University of Miami. This experience in the hospital setting has provided Mr. Rief with a unique insight into his cases and is invaluable to the representation of his clients.
